recyclemalaysia is created with a simple objective in mind: to be an accessible source of information about good recycling practices with a Malaysian touch.
Recycling is key to a sustainable and clean Malaysia.
The environment is an increasingly prevalent topic as our nation continues on its path to transform itself into a high-income, developed country. However, we as Malaysians should not allow rapid development to sideline Mother Nature.
As median incomes rise and consumerism becoming a norm for more of her citizens, the amount of waste generated increases as well. Many of these waste materials are actually reusable and can be recycled!
Unfortunately, many of these recyclables are thrown needlessly to landfills - subsequently, more land has to be marked for waste disposal. This means clearing of land (that could be developed for better purposes or left untouched), potential leeching of dangerous chemicals into the soil and rivers, among many adverse effects.
We must also remember the resources going into the manufacture of new consumables and products sometimes taken for granted are not infinite. Recycling would at the very least, slow down the process as we continue to consume Earth's resources.
